We recently attended the StreetCarDrags.com event held at Palm Beach International Raceway on May 6, 2012. This is the 3rd StreetCarDragsevent we attended, and, as before, many amazing cars showed up to race including multiple Corvette ZR1s, GTRs, Vipers, Evos, Camaros and some Benzes. Trophies were awarded for the Fastest American Car, Fastest Japanese Car, Fastest European Car, Best 60 foot time and Best Reaction Time.
The Benz that brought home the trophy for the Fastest European car was RENNtech’s 2012 CLS63 with a stout 10.79 @ 130.77 mph. RENNtech brought out a few of its project cars and gladly accepted our request to strap some of our test equipment into its record setting 2012 CLS63 to get some performance numbers.
May in South Florida is generally warm and humid, and May 6th was no exception. At the time of our testing, the temperatures were in the mid to high 80s with a density altitude of over 2000 feet. Despite the less than desirable conditions, the acceleration numbers were staggering from RENNtech’s warmed over V8 BiTurbo CLS63 …. as you can see from the data below:
RENNtech STOCK
0 to 60 mph 3.0 seconds ( 4.2 seconds)
0 to 100 mph 6.5 seconds ( 9.2 seconds)
60 to 130 mph 7.6 seconds (11.4 seconds)
The RENNtech CLS63 has the following mods: RENNtech modified ECU, larger heat exchanger, high efficiency intercooler pump, 100% locking differential, high flow downpipes with 200 cell cats, drag radials and front skinnies. The RENNtech CLS is still equipped with its stock turbos and stock airboxes (for now..), and the car retains all of its stock interior as no weight was taken out of the vehicle.
We also got a chance to log some miles on this car after the event and can say, without hesitation, that the rush of power from the RENNtech mods is eye ball flattening at every RPM. However, the RENNtech CLS63 is a docile as a stock CLS63 for everyday use.

One Hundred Tuning Club in Beijing, China has prepped a set of Mercedes C63′s with our wide body C74 conversion package. The end result has produced one mean looking set of twins…
An otherwise bone stock, tune only 2012 Mercedes E 63 ran an incredible 11.15 @ 126.7 mph quarter mile this past weekend at Palm Beach International Raceway. The E63 dynoyed an impressive 578.33 horsepower and 621.93 ft/lbs of torque at the wheels (680 horsepower and 732 ft-lbs of torque at the crank) with the RENNtech tune installed. That is a 100 horsepower gain over stock!
The run was made with the stock exhaust, stock wheels and OEM street tires in 80 degree temps with damp track conditions. Needless to say, we expect quite a bit more out of the new biturbo E63 and will certainly be breaking into the 10′s very shortly.
Stay tuned as we continue to push the performance of Mercedes latest powerhouse.
Here are a few additional images of the RENNtech C74 taken during the photoshoot with European Car magazine. The RENNtech C74 is featured in the June 2012 issue which is for sale on news stands now.
The RENNtech C74 found its way onto the cover of the upcoming Jun3, 2012 issue of European Car Magazine. The team from European car put the C74 through its paces at Palm Beach International Raceway and the issue features a 6 page article on our “ruthless” Mercedes.

The team at RENNtech was delighted to be involved with the Doug Mansfield Foundation and the efforts of both his charity and on the behalf of Barrett Jackson in order to provide proceeds from the sale of our 2004 SL 600 Chrome car to be donated to such a noble cause. The vehicle was sold at no reserve and brought in $155,000 USD with all proceeds from the sale of this vehicle being donated to the Doug Mansfield Foundation Trust, a Sarasota based charity that provides seeing eye dogs for children and blind veterans.
The lucky bidder of this vehicle not only be helped to support the needs of blind veterans, but become the new owner of a piece of history.
The 2004 RENNtech SL 600 Chrome car was developed in part with Nitto Tire for the 2004 SEMA Show. It features a heavily modified RENNtech V12 engine, making over 650 HP and 800 Lb/ft. The entire exterior of the car was finished with a one off, first of its kind chrome paint utilizing actual silver which took several months to complete. The result was a mirror like finish which gave the appearance that the entire vehicle was carved from a single piece of metal.
RENNtech congratulates the new owner of this exceptional vehicle and the efforts of everyone involved with this charitable project.

The RENNtech modified L4P SLR 777 once again shattered its own world record last week with an astonishing quarter mile run of 9.68 @ 142 mph! This run bested its previous quarter mile time of 9.76 @ 140 mph achieved in January earlier this year.
Further development on the SLR was made after its previous record run in order to extract maximum performance form every aspect of the vehicles power train. Focus was placed on the intake and exhaust potions of the engine with modifications made to the throttle body, fuel delivery and injector setup as well as additional changes to the exhaust header and muffler.
This unprecedented run once again makes the RENNtech modified SLR the worlds fastest Mercedes and ensures this king of the quarter mile will not easily be dethroned.
